CHARACTER INTERPRETATION
» Appearance: Pietro stands at slightly above average height, at 5'11". He's in peak physical condition, with a runner's body. His white hair is dark at the roots, wavy, and a bit messy, and his eyes are blue. Pietro's features are handsome and sort of chiseled, and he's got a layer of dark stubble on his face at all times. He tends to dress very casually, in running clothes, track suits, trainers, and the like.
» Suitability: Pietro is capable of handling the situations that will arise in game. He is, first and foremost, a survivor. He has a strong will, and he's driven to survive where others may fail. In canon, he and his sister are the only survivors of Baron Strucker's experiments, indicating that he's capable of undergoing extreme hardship and coming out in one piece. He also got by without his parents since he was 10, demonstrating independence. He'll bring that same drive to survive with him to Atia, and will easily learn to get by with a job and regular collar loosening. There's nothing to indicate that he would shy away from doing whatever it takes to get by.
» Orientation: Unknown. He doesn't express any romantic or sexual interest in anybody over the course of the film.
» History: Pietro was born to two unnamed parents, twelve minutes before his twin sister, Wanda. Born and raised in the Eastern European country of Sokovia, Pietro had as normal a childhood as one could in a place wrought with conflict. When he was ten, he was having dinner with his family when a mortar shell hit their apartment, killing their parents. Pietro took Wanda to the hide under the bed, when a second shell entered the apartment and, miraculously, didn't go off. For two days, they hid there and waited for the shell to go off and kill them, reading the word "Stark" on it. Eventually, they were rescued, and life continued for the Maximoff twins. As they grew older, they became politically involved, typically participating in anti-American protests. Their hatred for America, for Tony Stark, and later, for the Avengers, led them to volunteer for HYDRA's human experiments. Where other subjects couldn't survive the experiments, the Maximoffs' drive for revenge kept them going, and their enhanced abilities were eventually unlocked with Loki's scepter. Wanda gained a number of "weird" abilities, and Pietro gained superhuman speed.

Sometime after the Maximoffs' abilities were unlocked, the Avengers found the HYDRA base and raided it, looking for Loki's scepter. Although they were meant to stay inside, Pietro left to distract the Avengers, taking on Hawkeye and Captain America. They went on the run, escaping the Avengers. Later, they found Ultron, who proposed an alliance. Pietro was somewhat skeptical, but ultimately agrees to work with him. They help Ultron steal a bunch of supplies that he needs for his plans, and eventually go with him to acquire Ulysses Klaue's supply of vibranium. The Avengers show up, and Pietro manages to fight them off for a bit, before he takes himself out by attempting and failing to grab Mjølnir.

Later, the twins accompanied Ultron to Seoul, where he used the scepter on Dr. Cho so that she would build him a new body. Once his consciousness was beginning to be uploaded into the new body, Wanda read his thoughts, finding out that he intended to annihilate the human race. Horrified, Pietro took Wanda and they escaped Ultron. They ended up helping Captain America in his fight against Ultron. After helping stop a speeding, derailed train, the twins joined up with Captain America to stop Tony Stark from bringing Vision to life. They failed, but that ultimately turned out to be a good thing, since Vision was a force for good.

Agreeing to help stop Ultron from exterminating the human race, the twins put aside their differences with the Avengers and joined them, heading with them to Sokovia to help evacuate the citizens. Once Ultron's army of robots turned the city into a battleground, Pietro fought against them, taking out many robots. He assisted the Avengers where he could, and was even proud when he saw SHIELD come to the rescue, giving it his seal of approval. When it came time to finally leave the island, he wanted to take Wanda with him, but she demanded that he leave her behind to do one final sweep for civilians. Reluctantly, he does, and when he comes across Ultron targeting Hawkeye and a little boy with the Quinjet's guns, he manages to save them, sacrificing his life in the process.

And that's when he wakes up in Atia.

» Personality: Pietro is a brash, arrogant, cocky sort of person. Maybe it's because of his super-speed, or maybe he's always been this way. In either case, he's prone to acting as if he's at the top of his game, likely because as far as he's concerned, he is at the top of his game. When he takes out Hawkeye, he taunts him with "You didn't see that coming?" knowing full-well that nobody can see him coming. He carries himself with confidence, and he doesn't appear to be afraid of anything. He'll run towards gunfire, battling robots, and Avengers without fear, and he'll take them on without hesitation. Of course, his confidence turns to cockiness really easily, like when he tries to grab Mjølnir out of the air to use against Thor. It, of course, does not work in his favor.

Pietro can be serious, of course. When he talks about his family and the trauma that he and his sister endured, it's with a certain gravity. He's dedicated to getting revenge against Tony Stark in his family's memory, telling Ultron that rather than look at the big picture, he has "a little picture," which he looks at every day. It's this devotion to the little picture that blinds Pietro to the larger scale consequences of his actions. He makes a deal with the devil, aligning himself with Ultron, who's far from the lesser of two evils. He doesn't think about all the people who will get hurt if Ultron gets what he wants, not until Wanda sees for herself that he means to exterminate the human race.

It's worth noting, however, that Pietro does change his allegiance once he realizes just how dangerous Ultron is, just how far off the deep end he is. Once he starts to look at the bigger picture, he's capable of putting old grudges aside and working with the Avengers towards the common goal of saving Sokovia and the world. It's hard to say if he ever really forgives Tony for his role, however indirect, in the death of his family, as he doesn't have any real scenes where they talk about it, but he does follow Captain America without question once he changes sides, effectively making him an Avenger. He participates in the evacuation of Sokovia-- in his own impatient way, choosing to fire a gun into the air when the police don't get off their asses to evacuate-- and he aids the Avengers when possible, going so far as to sacrifice his own life to save Hawkeye and a civilian boy, showing that underneath his cocky exterior, he truly was a hero and an Avenger.

The most important person in Pietro's life is his twin sister, Wanda. She's all he has in the world, and he looks after her with a fierce protectiveness. The two are often seen embracing or holding hands, showing an intimacy and a closeness that he doesn't spare for others. Whenever Wanda's in danger, he's at her side in an instant, ready to whisk her to safety. Of the two of them, however, Wanda appears to be the more dominant one. She's often telling Pietro when to back off, when she's got a situation under control, and he tends to listen to her, despite the fact that he's 12 minutes older.

Pietro doesn't have much of a relationship with others in his canon. He was Ultron's ally for about half of the film, but he wasn't particularly loyal to him either way. He followed him as a means to get what he wanted: revenge on the Avengers. Once he realized that Ultron was insane and genocidal, he took Wanda and abandoned him. With the Avengers, he mostly interacted with Hawkeye, having a largely antagonistic relationship with him, filled with taunting. The taunting eventually turned more playful and friendly, and Pietro ultimately sacrificed himself to save him, showing that there really weren't any hard feelings between the two of them. He even made one last quip at Hawkeye before he died. Once he became an Avenger, he followed Captain America without question. He didn't interact much with the others-- unfortunately, it's hard to say whether he really forgave Tony or not in the end.

» First Person Sample Choice: Prompt 1
[Here's a young man with a somewhat thick Eastern European accent. It's Sokovian, for those who might recognize that, however few and far between such people would be. He's dressed in what appears to be tight-fitted running clothes, and he's got a shock of white-blond hair.]

This is... not what I was expecting. But then, I don't know what I was expecting today. It's been full of the unexpected. [He frowns a little, rubbing at a spot where he remembered a bullet going through him.] I read through the brochure, but it didn't tell me what I need to know. I need answers from home. [Specifically, he needs to know if Wanda is all right.] If anyone knows of the Avengers, of Sokovia... Talk to me with this little device.

» Third Person Sample Choice: Prompt 1
Something's wrong, and he knows it the moment he wakes up. He knows it because he's woken up, which typically doesn't happen when one finds one's body riddled with bullets. Not that the memory is particularly vivid right now. No, it's all a bit hazy, the memory of his recent... sex dream much clearer than anything involving Ultron and the battle to save Sokovia. At the forefront of his mind is long, thick hair, dark, cascading down pale shoulders as she rides him wildly, passionately, fulfilling every aching desire he's held onto for so long.

No, no. Now is not the time to be thinking about old girlfriends, even if he's embarrassingly aware of how long it's been since he's satisfied that particular urge with another person, and now the bedsheets are aware, too. Shoving them off, he winces a little with phantom aches and takes stock of his surroundings. The room, it's strange, like something out of Ancient Greece-- or what he's always imagined Ancient Greece to look like. And why is he completely naked?

No, not completely naked. He reaches for his neck, feeling the cool, metal collar wrapped around it. He tugs at it for a moment, and he could swear that it begins to feel a bit tighter the more he pulls. Try as he might, it won't budge-- perhaps there's a key somewhere that he'll need to unlatch it with. He'll find it in due time. In the meantime, he reaches for his clothes, folded neatly at the edge of the bed. It's time to figure out what's going on and why everything feels so... strange and weighted down, like there are anchors attached to his body, preventing him from moving quickly and making a speedy escape from this place.

What's going on? Where is he, and why does he feel like he did before Baron Strucker's experiments? It's as if he's moving through molasses as he pulls his pants on, and it's only once he's dressed that he takes note of the rest of his surroundings.

The gift basket doesn't go unnoticed, and before long, he's read through the brochure and picked up a communications device. This place is still strange, but it's starting to make some sense. Sort of.

And at least the candy tastes good.

Bouncing the device in his hand, Pietro heads out of the luxurious room and into the city, exploring all that it has to offer and hoping to see a familiar face, at least, to lend him more answers. Particularly, he needs to figure out if Wanda's all right, if she made it safely out of Sokovia intact. How he can figure that out when he's a world apart from her, he doesn't know, but he has to try.
